Vedvistara Asama Charitable Trust (ACT), is a nonprofit organization based in Calicut, Kerala. It is the brain child of a group of doctors and engineers. In the contemporary social situation prevalent in Kerala we realized that there is an acute need for psychological support to many individuals and families. Often the problem rather than being solved was hushed up or forced under the mat fearing social stigma. The affected people henceforth are under constant distress that could have been avoided if properly addressed. It is such compelling circumstances that forced us to take the initiative and deliver relief for the affected.

We mainly emphasis on primary prevention, which is not a common approach in developing and under developed countries. As we strongly believe that even the literate community is not aware of mental health care in a proper sense, we conduct awareness programs on mental health issues, especially that of children, lifestyle diseases (obesity, coronary heart disease, hypertension, arthritis), mental and behavioral disorders due to psycho active substance use (alcoholism, drug dependence etc) and other mental illnesses as a part of generating social awareness on the subject. Though we started as an agency meant for solving psychological problems, we have spread our realm of services to areas like a CBSE school, an incubator for children with poor scholastic performances and a research centre in psychological studies. We have a training centre where we offer courses in related disciplines like counseling, guidance, special education, learning disability and rehabilitation psychology.
